32-inch Sharp AQUOS 1080p LCD Gaming TV Introduced

Sharp has introduced a second-generation widescreen high-definition (HD) 1080p AQUOS LCD TV that is optimized for gaming. The 32-inch LCD HDTV, available in black, wine red or white, is specially designed to handle the highest frame rates of the most sophisticated video games available today. The model, LC-32GP3U, has a slim-line design and comes with a variety of features, including, most importantly for gaming, Vyper Drive, which all but eliminates lag time between video game console input and the TV display. The unit boasts a six-millisecond response time. Additionally, the TV has a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a 176-degree viewing angle.

The AQUOS 1080p LCD HDTV has a variety of connectivity options, including:

  • Two sets of component inputs
  • Three HDMI version 1.3 (x.v.ColorTM) inputs
  • PC connectivity via a 15-pin D-sub terminal (VGA connection)

A DVI-I to HDMI adapter can also be used for PC connections.

The AQUOS LCD TV has an integrated ATSC / NTSC tuner with Clear QAM support. The HDTV remote has a ‘Game Mode’ button that allows for easy access to the terminal inputs, which are positioned on the side if the TV for ease-of-connection to video game consoles. Additionally, the LC-32GP3U speakers are located at the bottom of the set, reducing monitor width for ease-of-fit in small spaces.

The AQUOS 1080p LCD HDTV will retail for $1,599.99 and is available this month. If you’d like to see some photos, Engadget has some press shots available for viewing.
