The gadgets of GTA IV

Niko's Mobile

Forget the dodgy old cell you start with. Niko's upgraded mobile lets you take photographs, play MP3 ringtones or listen to the radio! Well, this is the 21st century after all.

Heat-seeking RPG

Forget those ancient rocket launchers that required you to actually aim at your target: with GTA IV's heat seeker boommaker, you need simply pull the trigger. But make sure it's aimed away from your face.

Car GPS

Niko's GPS system (which seems to be built into his pants rather than any particular car) allows you to plant waypoints on the map, and then have a route plotted out to them via radar. Handy.

Police computer

The only real piece of kit we could get away with pimping in real life, the Police in-car computer lets you hunt for suspects, and read Liberty City's most wanted list. Amd yup, you're on it.

QUB3D Arcade

Forget PS3, this QUB3D is previous-gen gaming; vetrex graphics, spinning blocks and a soundtrack straight from that rubbish firework game on Xbox Live Arcade. Sweet.

The Internet

Liberty City's been a bit behind the times in the past, but it's finally online and the world of dating, auction sites and man porn are finally an exciting reality. Visit the TW@T Internet cafe to jump in.

RG900 Superbike

Zero to crashed in... 6.4 seconds (if we're driving, anyway). Usually doing a wheelie just makes you look like a 15-year-old in the Sainsbury's car park, but in GTA IV you get an Achievement, which is, like, well wicked.

Social Club

Probably the best gadget of all is Rockstar's online Social Club (www.rockstargames.com/socialclub) which lets you track the GTA stats of you and your friends, and even see a map of police activity. They seem to be gathered near the pub.

Zit

Liberty City's worringly familiar music download service lets you tag your favourite radio songs, and then listen to them on your PC in the Social Club. Neat.

Engine-fixing telephone

Not many people know that Niko's mobile has magical car-healing abilities. If your motor stops dead after a series of crashes, simply dial 911 and the engine will magically start again. Wow!
