Geneva Sound System: mental iPod dock

In case you hadn't noticed, there are a couple of different iPod docks on sale. In fact, recent research has shown that there are now exactly 4.8 times as many models of iPod dock as there are humans on planet earth, which is quite a few. (Disclaimer: this is an enormous exaggeration in order to make a point.)

But that hasn't stopped Swiss audiophile Geneva Lab from lobbing just one more range into the fray. The Geneva Sound System comes in three sizes - M, L and XL - and bedecked in piano lacquered wood perched atop a metal pillar, looks like no other Pod dock on the market.

Each system sports the aforementioned dock (iPhone compatibility to be announced apparently), CD player, digital FM radio and plentiful audio improvement technology. The Geneva System claims to create the kind of sonic fidelity delivered by a separates system thanks to its patented audio algorithm EmbracingSound that allows a multi-driver array within the cabinet to reproduce the kind of soundstage traditionally reserved for separate left and right speakers. Audiophilic.

The M model retails at £500, the L at £800 and the XL at a mighty £1,500, with the lamppost-esque pedestal a cheeky £140 extra.
