Vita Audio R4 rocks up

If we were drowning in a sea of iPod playing sound systems (believe us, it's not unlikely at the rate they're getting churned out) and were looking for some hi-fi floatation, we'd reach out for the woody delights of Vita Audio's R4 Integrated Music System.

Not only does wood float, you see, but the R4 looks like the cracker's knackers. Crammed inside that woody exterior is a DAB/FM tuner, iPod dock, MP3 and WMA enabled CD player, USB port and smattering of auxiliary imports for hooking up all manner of who knows what. Versatile.

Things should sound and feel pretty darn marvellous too, with 80W of audiophile-pleasing power controlled by the uncontrollably funky RotoDial remote control. Now that's a lot of control.

Clearly such tremendousness doesn't come cheap, with the rich walnut veneer costing £500. But if you're feeling really flush, splash out on the 'dream white' effort for an extra £50. Worth every penny, we say.
