Dell 2709WFP reviewed but not yet announced

Filed under:

Though they aren’t publishing any photo proof, CNET’s claiming the first review of the Dell 2709W, a yet-unannounced 27-incher that will supposedly debut in Australia for $1,200 AU (about $1,150 US). Looking a little more like its 30-inch counterpart, the 2709WFP has two DVI ports, DisplayPort, HDMi, and apparently even multiple 3.5mm jacks for surround sound passthrough over HDMI. All in all it sounds like the reviewers felt this is one to keep an eye out for. You know, whenever it’s announced.

var digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/hardware/Eee_PC_1000_vs_901_vs_701′;

There you have it, the hotly anticipated 10-inch Eee PC 1000 sized up next to the 8.9-inch Eee PC 901 (center) and original 7-inch Eee PC 701. Feeling. Misty.

Here’s the scoop from Engadget Chinese who just got out of the press briefing at Computex in Taipei:

  • New 6-cell battery offers up to 7.5-hours of battery for Eee PC 1000, 7.8-hours for 901, 7 hours for Eee PC 1000H
  • The “H” in the Eee PC 1000(H) model means hard drive, yes, hard drive up to 80GB. A first for an Eee.
  • The Eee PC 1000 will max-out with a 40GB SSD
  • Fully equipped with 802.11n and Bluetooth — hoozah!
  • Intel’s Atom across the board

More pics the break.

Update: Detailed pricing and specs now in.

LG intros M3800S-BN / M2900S-BN stretched display monitors in UK

Filed under: ,

Though not the first stretched display we’ve seen per se, LG is taking widescreen to an entirely new plateau with its latest duo of monitors. Launched today in the UK, the 38-inch M3800S-BN and 29-inch M2900S-BN feature oddball resolutions like 1,366 x 398 and 1,366 x 480 (respectively) along with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 9-millisecond response time and a VGA input. Obviously geared for digital signage applications, both units can display imagery horizontally or vertically, and while price points weren’t disclosed, we’ll go ahead and assume that they’ll be pegged for purchase on those business-centric credit cards (if you catch our drift).
